If you’re trying to create a successful blog you might want to take a look at this post from Katie Freiling. It includes a video where she describes many of the techniques she used to push her Google Page Rank up to 5 in less than 12 months.
There is some question as to the value of Page Rank, but it can’t be denied that PR is one factor that has a bearing on your website’s overall performance in Google. Page Rank is an indication of the “importance” and “authority” Google has assigned your site (or blog).
These techniques specifically apply to a WordPress blog, but they have general application as well. The key things that stand out are
- Interlinking of posts within your blog – using a plugin like WordPress Related Posts. I use the plugin called Efficient Related Posts.
- Get lots of backlinks – using content syndication and social networking
- Add a “call to action” asking readers to share
- Create lots of quality, focused content – “the more unique the better”
