The “reveal tab” used on Facebook Fan Pages is a powerful technique for getting new fans (or “likes”). It is called a “tab” because that is the old term used to describe components added to Facebook “Fan” Pages (which are not called just “Facebook Pages”). Putting the confusing naming aside, here’s how it works:
The “real” information on your fan page is not revealed until the visitor clicks the “Like” button. This reveals the actual page, and makes them a “fan”. Updates to your Wall will then appear on their News Feed.
To make this work you need two versions of your page – one for “fans” and one for “non-fans”. The “non-fan” version is often a shaded or distorted version of the “fan” version. This works by adding some .php code to your site.
Unfortunately many of the descriptions of how to set this up are based on the old FBML (Facebook Mark Up Language) procedure which has been replaced by IFrames. So those descriptions are no longer valid.
The “Complete Fan Page System” includes a step by step description of how to set a reveal tab up using IFrames.

You can also buy the Complete Fan Page System which includes Reveal Tab code, along with many other useful components to help you create effective Fan Pages.
