If you like leaving comments on websites and blogs around the web you’ve probably noticed that a number of major publications, as well as an increasing number of bloggers, have adopted the Facebook commenting system.
What this does is tie your comments directly into your Facebook profile. When you post a comment on, say, an article in the National Post, that comment shows up on your Facebook profile. It also shows up on the News Feeds of your friends.
In other words, placing comments on publications running the Facebook commenting system gives you a way of creating links to 3rd party content. It also gives you a kind of “command central” for your commenting efforts.
More importantly, when someone leaves a comment on your blog, assuming you are running the Facebook Commenting system, that comment will show up on their profile and on the News Feeds of their friends as well. That should mean a significant increase in exposure for your blog content – even if you only get a few comments.
I’m in the process of installing this new system on this blog right now. If you see the standard Facebook comment box when you click on the “Comments” link at the bottom you will know I’ve been successful.
Then go ahead and leave a comment.
