Completing Your Facebook Page

First things to do once your Facebook Page is up and running.

1. Make sure you are an admin – If you have used a service like ours to create your Facebook Business Page, make sure you are made an admin so you can make adjustments and changes. To become an admin do the following:

– “Like” your page
– Ask the admin to make you an admin too

2. Fill in the “Info” on the Info tab. Add as much information about your company as you can. Not just your company name and address, but add some interesting information about what your company does, what it specializes in, etc.

- Click on the “Edit Info” link at the top of your page
- Fill in as much information as you can

NOTE: This information is important for SEO (search engine) purposes. This is primarily where the SEs look for indexing info for your page.

3. Add photos to your “row of photos” – When you upload photos they will show up on your Wall page at the top in what is called a “row of photos”. These can enhance the appearance of your page, and if chosen properly can be effective ways of saying something about your business.

These photos will appear at approximately 97px wide by 68px high. I recommend uploading them at about 4 times this size (388 x 372) so that when someone clicks on a photo it will appear at the larger size. You should also add a description to each photo.

4. Invite your friends and contacts – Once your page is ready to go, start inviting friends and contacts to visit your page and “like” it. Your first objective should be to get 25 likes to you can get your own customized URL or username – see next point.

5. Once you have 25 likes, get a customized URL – For more details on how to do that, see this post – Getting a custom URL for your Facebook Page.

6. Add status updates on a regular basis – It is important to add regular status updates that will be of interest to your target audience. Give people a reason to visit your page. Videos and photos are always good. Link to other useful articles and posts too.

7. Add applications that engage your visitors – Interactive applications are a good way of making your page both interesting and informative. With specially designed applications (contests, webinars, events, etc.) you can engage your audience while building a more loyal following.
