Adding a Facebook Like Button to a Normal Web Page

by rick on October 25, 2011

If you set it up correctly, adding a Facebook “Like” Button to a non-Facebook web page is an effective way of integrating your “normal” website with Facebook. Say you add the “like” button to your home page at “mysite12345.com”. Now when someone clicks the “like” button, they are asked to make a comment (optional). If they make a comment it appears on their personal Facebook profile and is visible on the News Feeds of their friends.

Here’s an example

Why would a business go with the “Fan Page” set up instead of a Business Page? Not very FB savvy.

They are the same thing. “Fan” page is the name Facebook originally used, but the term “fan” is history. They now refer to “liking” a page rather than becoming a “fan” of a page.
