- What is Your Marketing Problem?
You can tell from the shorter days and cooler nights that
our beautiful summer is gradually coming to a close. That must mean it's time
to get back to the regular routine - although I'm sure not many of you have
been taking it too easy over the last few months.
This week I want to talk a bit about two things I've been
doing a lot of experimenting with lately - Email Marketing and
Social Networking or what is known in some circles as "Web 2.0"
Can Email Marketing Work for You?
Now quick, tell me - What is the best way to get in touch
with your customers and prospects? Email, right? So why do so many of us in
business do such a lousy job of keeping in touch using this powerful medium?
Yes, it's true that Email has its problems. But isn't it
also true that most of your online
business is conducted by Email? Certainly is in my case. I'd be sunk without
it.
The big question is, can Email marketing be used to sell
your products?
In short, the answer is almost always "yes", but it takes a fair bit of
imagination and experimentation to figure out how.
Linknet
Marketing Forum
Lots of people have tackled this issue already and I've been
pulling some of this material together at
The Linknet Marketing Forum.
One of the items I'm featuring right now is a series of taped conversations
between Frank Garon and Joel Christopher where they discuss their Email
marketing strategies - in particular, how to build your Email list.
Let me warn you, this is a very long series of
conversations, but it is well worth listening to if you want to learn
something about successful Email marketing. This series of recordings is
normally reserved for Platinum members, but for the next little while we're
opening it up to all "fre*e" members as well.
If you haven't already joined the LM Forum, the link below
will take you to the sign up page where you can join for fre*e. We will be
adding all sorts of marketing material, including articles, audio recordings,
and videos about various types of online marketing, so it is well worth
joining.

Networking - Fr*e*e Advertising & More
What is a "social networking" site? It is any site where a
group of people come together around a specific theme and interact with each
other. Blogs allow interaction (readers can comment) so that makes them a type
of social networking site. Forums are also interactive, so that makes them
social networking sites too.
But the sites that have attracted the most attention are
ones like MySpace, Youtube, Wikipedia, or Squidoo. These are all quite different, but what they share in common is a community of members who
create new content and have input into content posted by other members.
Most do not allow commercial or promotional content. But here are three "social networking" sites that will tolerate
a certain amount of self-promotion, and are worth looking at.
Craig's List - This is
the largest classified ad site on the web. Before trying to use it to market
your products,
have a look at this report. You might also want to purchase these
Craig's
List videos describing exactly how to do it. (Recommended)
LinkedIn - This site caters to professionals, mid level
executives, marketing people and general up-and-comers. It features a fre*e
exchange of information, contacts, advice etc. You can build "communities" and have
direct correspondence with other members who you might partner with or sell
things to. The "Answers" section allows you to respond to questions asked by
other members. Go to the trouble of supplying some answers and you might pick up some leads.
BetterThanBackLinks.com - This is a
members-only blog site - which means that you can purchase the opportunity to
create a relatively high profile blog and promote your products and services.
I have a blog on this site and will be reporting on its effectiveness as time
goes by.
What is Your Marketing Problem?
Remember, if you have an online marketing problem or question
ask it here,
and we may feature your question in a future issue of The Linknet Letter.
Till next time,
